Cuban Migrants Detained on Way to Cancun – Shocking Update!

Between 10 and 13 Cuban migrants were detained on Friday afternoon at a Punta Sam police checkpoint. They were traveling in a van, identified by the economic number R1, heading towards Cancun. The group had initially arrived in the continental area of Isla Mujeres on a raft before boarding the van with the intention of reaching the city center.

During a routine check, the Isla Mujeres police discovered that all the passengers were foreigners. Upon requesting their immigration documents, it was confirmed that none of the migrants possessed the necessary paperwork. In response to this, local authorities contacted immigration officials to handle the situation.

The intervention by the officers at the Punta Sam checkpoint prevented the migrants from continuing their journey without the required documentation. This incident underscores the significance of immigration controls in the region.

Immigration authorities will now follow the appropriate procedures to determine the future of the detained individuals. This incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing immigration issues in the region, with many individuals attempting to reach Mexican territory as a stepping stone to other destinations.
