DiDi, a popular mobility platform in Mexico, has recently been granted official registration as a tourist service provider by the Quintana Roo Tourism Secretariat. This recognition makes DiDi the only approved app for providing transportation services across the region.
The authorization highlights DiDi’s commitment to safety, accessibility, and user experience in one of Mexico’s most significant tourist destinations. Quintana Roo is home to popular locations such as Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and the Riviera Maya.
The registration was awarded by the state government following a close collaboration between DiDi and the Quintana Roo authorities. In August 2024, DiDi publicly committed to integrating its platform with the Coordination, Command, Control, Communications, and Computing Center (C5) of Quintana Roo. This integration was made possible through a partnership with Carbyne, a global provider of cloud emergency solutions.
This integration allows DiDi to connect directly with emergency services, ensuring an immediate response in critical situations. The initiative, endorsed by Governor Mara Lezama, the Security Secretariat, and the Mobility Institute, aims to improve peace of mind for both residents and the millions of tourists who visit the state each year.
DiDi’s contribution to Quintana Roo’s tourist infrastructure extends beyond transportation. The platform collaborates with local authorities to provide a mobility service that improves the quality of life for residents and facilitates access to the state’s main tourist attractions.
This effort supports the local economy by increasing accessibility to iconic destinations such as Cancun’s beaches, Tulum’s cenotes, and the archaeological sites of the Riviera Maya.
As the only mobility app with the status of a tourist provider, DiDi aims to offer an affordable and reliable transportation alternative for both residents and visitors. The achievement of this registration also serves as a significant step in strengthening the relationship between the platform and the state government, facilitating the implementation of joint measures to improve user well-being.
