Tulum, Quintana Roo – Municipal presidential candidate, Diego Castañón Trejo, has proposed a new mobility plan for Tulum. The plan prioritizes pedestrians, aiming to create a clean, well-connected tourist city with 100% safe transportation options.
Castañón Trejo presented his plan to the Association of Engineers and Architects of Tulum, outlining three strategic initiatives: a six-colony connection road project, a ring road project, and a Veleta parallel road project. The plan prioritizes pedestrians, followed by cyclists, public transportation, emergency vehicles, municipal public services, and finally, private vehicles.
Castañón Trejo noted that Tulum has seen significant investment in recent years, including a new airport and the Maya Train. These projects promote development, but also necessitate decisive action to maintain progress.
"The proposed New Bypass will help manage traffic from the airport without it needing to pass through the city. This will direct traffic towards Playa, Cancún, and other destinations. Additionally, we plan to implement 100% coverage for paving and lighting throughout the municipality, improving mobility, safety, and services."
Jesús Hernández Valencia, president of the Association of Engineers and Architects of Tulum, expressed his gratitude to Castañón Trejo for his inclusive approach, which allows for the incorporation of projects that contribute to an orderly and sustainable Tulum.
"We recently met with Diego Castañón to discuss various topics, including mobility. He encouraged us to develop project proposals, which he would then incorporate into his campaign. If he wins the vote on June 2, these proposals will be implemented in the next administration."
Castañón Trejo invited the sector to join the social agreement for Tulum, to continue the city's transformation and enhance the well-being and quality of life of its residents.
