Diego Castañón, the Morena candidate for Tulum's municipal presidency, has unveiled a culinary strategy aimed at promoting Mayan cuisine globally. His plan includes launching tourist promotional campaigns, introducing regional culinary routes, and organizing food fairs and activities centered around Mayan cuisine.
This initiative is expected to enhance the appeal and accessibility of traditional Mayan cuisine, which holds a unique and special place in the region's culinary landscape. Castañón emphasized that this strategy is part of broader efforts to ensure that the benefits of tourism are felt across the municipality, particularly in areas that have been historically neglected.
In collaboration with state and federal governments, Castañón also plans to construct a new hospital in Tulum, improve existing medical infrastructure, and introduce mobile caravans to ensure everyone enjoys decent living conditions.
The Morena-PVEM and PT candidate also spoke about his vision to make Tulum a leader in international tourism education and training. This comes after the Mayan Caribbean was recognized for its high-quality tourism.
In this context, Castañón stressed the importance of improving working conditions and wages in the tourism sector. He also highlighted the need to create value through partnerships between universities and tourism companies in the hospitality and culinary sectors, among others.
His plan aims to expand educational opportunities for young people and ensure that international tourism companies have access to well-trained, skilled local talent. For Tulum, according to Castañón, it's time to grow.
