The Joint Tariff Commission of the Benito Juarez municipality has initiated discussions this week with local authorities, concessionaires, and the Quintana Roo Mobility Institute (Imoveqroo). The focus of these meetings is to review and potentially revise regulations and rules pertaining to public transportation and its organization.

The Secretary-General, Pablo Gutiérrez Fernández, acknowledged that while there have been proposals for a fare increase from concessionaires and carriers, the conditions are not yet suitable for such a change. He suggested that a fare hike in the immediate future is unlikely.

Since the Commission's establishment, efforts have been underway to reorganize the public transport system. Concessionaires have shown willingness to collaborate and contribute to the technical studies being conducted. These studies are focused on the necessary regulatory changes and the overall improvement of the system.

Municipal president Ana Paty Peralta de la Peña stated that one of the municipality's conditions for authorizing any fare changes is the implementation of a new mobility model. This model, currently under development, aims to integrate various modes of transport, reduce transfer times, and enhance the overall efficiency of the system.

The secretary concluded by expressing hope that their collaborative work with Imoveqroo would continue to progress, despite the upcoming change in the institute's leadership. He emphasized their shared goal of providing citizens with a high-quality, efficient, and safe public transport service.
