Sergio "N", a man previously under house arrest in Cuernavaca, Morelos for domestic violence, has been transferred to a cell in Cancún's Social Rehabilitation Center (Cereso). This move came after he violated the precautionary measures imposed on him.
According to a statement from the Attorney General's Office of Quintana Roo, investigative agents from Quintana Roo and Morelos coordinated the transfer. This action followed a judge's decision to modify the precautionary measures against Sergio "N" due to his potential involvement in physical violence against a victim, whose identity remains confidential. The judge suspended Sergio's house arrest, allowing the legal process to continue in prison.
Sergio "N" was first linked to a case on May 8th in Cancún, Quintana Roo, relating to an incident that took place in November 2021. The incident occurred during a business trip with his romantic partner, a resident of Mexico City. Initially, Sergio was granted house arrest in Cuernavaca and was ordered to refrain from contacting the victim. However, a subsequent review revealed that he had not adhered to these restrictions and continued to harass and threaten the victim via social media.
Given the inability to ensure the victim's safety at her home, the judge decided to change the precautionary measure to a justified preventive detention for six months in Quintana Roo's Cereso. Sergio "N" was then transferred under tight security to the penitentiary to comply with this new measure, aimed at ensuring the victim's safety.
