The peace of the Tumben Ka’a neighborhood in Tulum was shattered in the early hours of Sunday morning. Two men were fatally shot at a local boarding house where they had been enjoying a drink. The incident took place just before 4:00 AM.
The emergency services were alerted to the sound of gunfire at a property on Yondzonot Avenue, nestled between 24th and 26th streets. The caller also reported that two people had been killed. Paramedics from Hospital Tulum were quickly on the scene, where they confirmed the grim news: both men were deceased.
The Preventive Municipal Police were next to arrive, swiftly cordoning off the area to protect any potential evidence.
Initial reports suggest that the victims were in the boarding house's courtyard when they were ambushed and shot. As of now, no arrests have been made and there are no clear descriptions of the suspects.
Shortly after, Criminal Police officers arrived to begin their investigation into the crime. Forensic experts from the Vice Prosecutor's Office in Tulum were also on hand to remove the bodies and commence the legal proceedings.
