Around 10 drivers, affiliated with the CTM, staged a protest this morning outside the offices of Ingenieros Civiles y Asociaciones (ICA). They are demanding payment for their services in transporting asphalt to the Tren Maya construction sites.
The protest started around 9 in the morning, with the drivers positioning two large trucks outside the company's offices on Sur Avenue. Banners were displayed on the trucks with slogans such as "We demand our payment ICA". The drivers claim they have not been paid for their services since February.
They also warned that they may block Juarez Avenue in the coming hours if no company executive arrives to address the payment issue. The drivers say there are many others in the same situation, who are increasingly frustrated with the lack of response to their demands for payment.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the drivers vowed to continue their protest until they receive the payment they are legally owed. They did not rule out the possibility of bringing more trucks to the protest as a form of pressure.
