The Quintana Roo State Attorney General's Office (FGE) has successfully linked five individuals to an extortion case in Costa Mujeres, a mainland area of Isla Mujeres. One of the accused is Raúl “N”, also known as “El Güero Palma”, who is suspected to be the leader of a criminal group involved in extortion in the region.

The other four individuals implicated are Axel Raúl “N”, Kevin Yahir “N”, Josefina Candelaria “N”, and Kimberly “N”. Investigations suggest these individuals threatened a tour business owner, demanding "protection" payments under threat of death. The victim had been paying these extortion fees for over three years to avoid retaliation.

Upon arrest, authorities confiscated a 9mm handgun and various narcotics from the accused. During the court hearing, the Control Judge considered the evidence presented by the Prosecutor's Office and decided to link all five individuals to the case.

Pretrial detention was ordered for Raúl “N”, aka “El Güero Palma”, and Axel Raúl “N”. Meanwhile, Kevin Yahir “N”, Josefina Candelaria “N”, and Kimberly “N” will face the proceedings under justified preventive detention.

This case highlights the ongoing efforts of the FGE Quintana Roo in combating criminal groups operating within the state, particularly those involved in extortion in tourist areas. Investigations continue to determine if the accused are connected to other crimes committed in the region.
