Exclusive: Shocking Arrest Made in Baja California Triple Surfer Murder Case

Jesus Gerardo, also known as "El Kekas," was arrested on May 5th in connection with the disappearance of two Australian brothers and an American man in Ensenada. The State Attorney General's Office led the investigation to Gerardo, who was already in prison for other crimes.

Two other individuals, a man and a woman, were also arrested and are currently in preventive detention for federal offenses. Their involvement in this case has not been ruled out.

The bodies of the missing individuals were discovered in a well over 15 meters deep. They were identified as Jake and Callum Robinson from Australia, and Carter Rhoad from the United States. However, official confirmation is pending until the victims' families can identify them or genetic tests can verify their identities.

Jake Robinson, a 30-year-old doctor, and his 33-year-old brother Callum, a lacrosse player for the Atlas Roster team, often documented their travels on social media. Their posts frequently featured their surfing adventures with friends and family. During their trip to Mexico, Callum shared a series of Instagram stories titled "Mexico 2024," showing the brothers visiting taco stands, buildings, and Playa San Miguel in Ensenada.

The Robinson brothers were reported missing on April 27. On May 4, bodies matching their descriptions were found at the bottom of a well.

Baja California Prosecutor, Maria Elena Andrade, stated in a press conference on May 5th that the evidence suggests the Robinson brothers and Carter Rhoad were camping in a remote area without cell service when they were attacked. It is believed that the assailants intended to steal parts from their truck and the victims resisted, leading to their murder.

Evidence found at the scene includes tent rods, a shell casing, blood stains, and drag marks, suggesting a violent confrontation. The Prosecutor's Office reported that they already had potential suspects in mind shortly after receiving the complaint, and the investigation is ongoing.

The State Prosecutor emphasized that they will apply the full weight of the law against the perpetrators. They also stated that they have maintained constant contact with the victims' families and the Mexican embassy in Australia throughout the investigation.
