A 74-year-old tourist tragically drowned at Xcalacoco Beach. Despite being rescued and receiving attempted resuscitation, she sadly passed away in a private hospital on Monday evening.

The woman was enjoying a vacation with family members when the incident occurred. It appears she was swept away by the water and was unable to return to shore.

Other beachgoers quickly alerted lifeguards from a nearby hotel who rushed to provide first aid. An ambulance was called and the woman was transported to Amerimed Hospital in the Ejido Playa del Carmen neighborhood.

Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the medical staff, the woman did not survive. The hospital's social worker reported the death and informed the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) for legal proceedings.
