A young empanada vendor was tragically killed in an armed attack in Cancún's Carabanchel neighborhood, near the Bicentennial Arch, last Wednesday evening. The incident occurred around 7pm in Region 106, leading to an immediate response from emergency services.

Emergency services received reports of a person injured by gunfire inside a private vehicle on September 25th. On arrival, Red Cross paramedics and Municipal Police officers discovered the young man in a white Nissan March. Sadly, he had already passed away by the time help arrived.

The victim, believed to be around 25 years old, made his living selling empanadas. Witnesses reported that he was shot on José López Portillo Avenue. Despite being severely injured, the young man attempted to drive himself to Jesús Kumate Rodríguez General Hospital. Unfortunately, he lost consciousness and ultimately his life before he could reach the hospital.

The victim's identity has not been released yet. His body was transferred to the forensic medical service (Semefo) to be returned to his family, who are now preparing for his funeral.

Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the motive behind the attack and to locate those responsible. Meanwhile, ministerial officers are gathering evidence to shed light on this tragic incident. Residents of the Carabanchel neighborhood are expressing their concern about the increasing insecurity in the area.
