Estefanía Mercado, the Municipal President of Solidaridad, has called for unity between the government and the people to build a prosperous municipality. She has committed to investing every peso collected from contributions into social works and actions.
Mercado emphasized the importance of unity in Playa del Carmen, highlighting the need to bridge the gap between the affluent areas and the neglected neighborhoods. She stated, "We cannot live in two different Playas del Carmen, one with beautiful places, trees, and cleanliness, and another where neighborhoods have been neglected and now require a lot of attention."
In her first year in office, Mercado plans to invest an estimated 900 million pesos from the municipality's own resources. This budget will be used to address the service and infrastructure needs of the people of Solidaridad. The funds will be allocated towards the rescue and maintenance of public spaces and parks in areas like Villas del Sol, where demand is growing. The budget will also be used for road construction and improvements.
Recently, the council unanimously approved a reform initiative for Tax and Municipal Income laws. This initiative has been forwarded to the XVIII Legislature of the State Congress for processing.
Mercado stated, "With this budget, we intend to completely change the urban image of the city. All urban development projects are tied to the social aspect and security. Without worthy parks and public spaces, we will struggle to address security issues."
Mercado assured that every peso collected in the municipality will be used for the majority's benefit in Solidaridad. She also expressed her vision of moving from "All Inclusive" to "Everyone Included". This means that not only large hotels but also small traders, medium-sized entrepreneurs, and those betting on entrepreneurship will receive full support from the municipal government.
She concluded, "We will not allow corruption. All the money collected must return to the people through dignified public spaces and improved services from this administration."
