Estefanía Mercado Asencio, the elected mayor of Solidaridad, has pledged her support for Roberto González, a resident of Playa del Carmen who fell victim to "Lord Coward". Mercado is committed to helping González seek the justice that has eluded him for seven years.
Mercado expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve the public and connect with the stories of the community. She recently visited González, who she described as a young man fighting for the universal human cause of justice.
She shared her experience on social media, accompanied by a photo. "I was deeply moved to see a young man who, despite his challenges, always has a smile on his face and never gives up on his dreams," she wrote.
Mercado noted that González's fight for justice has resonated with many in Playa del Carmen, and she promised to keep a close eye on his case. She also pledged that her upcoming municipal government would provide him with the attention he deserves.
González has been seeking justice for seven years following a brutal attack that left him quadriplegic. He reported that his journey through the State Attorney General's Office has been fraught with difficulties and irregularities.
The assailants, Rodrigo "N" and María Fernanda "N", have yet to be punished for the attack, which occurred after González complained about their dog defecating in front of his house. González has appealed to the authorities for help with his case, and Mercado, as the elected mayor of Solidaridad, has answered his call.
