Estefanía Mercado Unveils Bold Plan for Neighborhood Safety Revolution

In Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Estefanía Mercado has pledged to improve neighborhood safety in Solidaridad. Her campaign, "Solidaridad with Peacebuilding," promises increased patrols, a comprehensive surveillance system, improved police working conditions, and the restoration of police booths. Additionally, she is committed to implementing a thorough crime prevention policy in every neighborhood.

Prior to hosting the "Dialogues for Transformation" forum, Mercado visited the "Villas Riviera" neighborhood alongside district 10 local deputy candidate María José Osorio. They interacted with residents, addressing concerns about public safety, public services, inadequate lighting, and waste collection.

Mercado outlined her plans for a budget review and significant investment to improve police working conditions and provide ongoing training for professional development. She emphasized the need for technological investment and innovation, citing the lack of surveillance in certain areas of Playa del Carmen. Mercado stressed the importance of security measures, such as surveillance cameras in public parks, for the safety of the community.

Following her neighborhood visit, Mercado led the fourth "Dialogues for Transformation" forum in the Guadalupana neighborhood. She announced plans to double the security budget under her administration, prioritizing the improvement of police working conditions, including fair scheduling and quality nutrition.

Mercado's peacebuilding proposal includes the restoration of all existing police booths in Playa del Carmen and Puerto Aventuras, many of which are currently abandoned. She also plans to construct new booths to increase the presence of security in the community. "In collaboration with Claudia Sheinbaum, our future president, we will increase the number of patrols and implement a technologically advanced surveillance system to protect our citizens," Mercado stated.

Topics discussed included the comprehensive security camera program, civil protection, public security and lighting, police training and coordination, technology and security, government and citizen joint responsibility, crime prevention, and cultural aspects.
