Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The transformation of Playa del Carmen is evident in its streets, where decisive actions are being taken to ensure the safety of women and the well-being of the community. Thanks to historic investments in training, equipment, and strategic patrols by the municipal government under Mayor Estefanía Mercado, officers from the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSCM) successfully rescued a young woman who had been kidnapped.

Swift Police Intervention Leads to Rescue

During a preventive patrol, municipal police received a report about a white Nissan Tsuru allegedly used to abduct a young woman against her will. The incident occurred at the intersection of Avenida Universidades and Libramiento Cristo Rey. Officers acted immediately, locating and intercepting the vehicle.

Upon stopping the car, the victim called for help and was secured by security personnel. The suspect, identified as Jerry Ismael "N," a 50-year-old man from Yucatán, was arrested and handed over to the State Attorney General's Office, along with the vehicle involved in the crime.

Specialized Support for the Victim

The young woman received specialized assistance from the Specialized Group for Attention to Family and Gender-Based Violence (GEAVIG), part of the municipal strategy to address violence against women with seriousness and compassion.

This case underscores the commitment of the Fourth Transformation governments to building public safety through strong institutions, well-trained police forces, and a clear vision of social justice. In Playa del Carmen, investments in security translate to lives saved, rights protected, and zero tolerance for violence.
