Costa Maya, in the southern zone of Quintana Roo, is set to benefit from a significant boost in tourism thanks to the Mayan Train project. Plans are underway to build 13 boutique hotels, each with up to four floors, to form a new complex on the Costa Maya coastline. The project, named "Lahun Tiku," is part of the larger "LT-Costa Maya Stage 3" initiative.
The new hotels will add 505 rooms to the area, almost doubling the current capacity of 47 hotels and 675 rooms. The projected investment for these 13 hotels is approximately 245.5 million pesos over the next 30 years. The hotels will be spread across a total area of 25,247.8 square meters, located in the town of Xahuachol, between Kanacax and Puerto Ángel.
The site is zoned for High Density Tourist Hotel Zones, with the potential to accommodate around 8,500 rooms of various hotel categories. Previous hotel structures on the site were demolished after being damaged by hurricanes. The new master plan, managed by Banco Actinver, includes the construction of lobbies, pools, sunbathing areas, toilets, sidewalks, bars, and kitchens, as well as bicycle parking, offices, reception areas, yoga spaces, spa buildings, gyms, and gardens. The plan also prioritizes maintaining green conservation areas.
The first of the 13 hotels will consist of 11 buildings offering 73 rooms across a 3,529 square meter area. The buildings will be three and four levels high. The second hotel will feature seven buildings with 46 rooms, as well as a spa, gym, yoga area, lobby, reception, bathrooms, pool with sun deck, bar with kitchen, and bike parking area, all spread across 1,207 square meters.
The remaining hotels will follow a similar pattern, with a mix of three and four-story buildings offering a range of room numbers, and additional facilities such as spas, gyms, and yoga areas. The entire project represents a significant investment in Costa Maya's tourism infrastructure, promising to bring a new level of luxury and convenience to visitors.
