The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) has given the go-ahead for the expansion of the Aventura Palace electrical substation in Puerto Aventuras. This project, proposed by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), aims to meet the increasing demand for electricity in the southern region of the Solidaridad municipality. The expansion is expected to alleviate frequent power outages, providing a reliable electricity supply for 40,000 local residents and the area's hotel infrastructure.
The project, with an estimated investment of 245.7 million pesos, will span over an area of 0.5 hectares. Semarnat has granted a permit for this expansion for a duration of 30 years, with a 12-month timeframe for the completion of the work. This expansion is one among several projects designed to ensure a steady electricity supply in the region, which is crucial for the development of infrastructure related to the Maya Train, such as the Paamul 2 cable-stayed bridge.
The CFE is also evaluating three additional projects to further enhance the region's electricity supply. These include the Kantenah Electrical Substation, the Leona Vicario-Riviera Maya Transmission Line, and the construction of an electrical substation in Leona Vicario. These initiatives are part of a broader plan to boost transmission capacity from the Valladolid region to Cancun and Riviera Maya, thereby improving the quality, reliability, and continuity of the electricity supply.
