The family of a young man who died while in police custody are seeking justice. Fernando Yzquierdo Hernandez, a 24-year-old, tragically lost his life at the Secretaria de Seguridad Ciudadana (SSC) in Chetumal on January 23rd. His aunt, Rubiela, has vowed to hold those responsible accountable, stating, "We want each of the responsible parties to go to jail."

From the moment of his arrest, the family alleges that the officers behaved inappropriately and failed to follow proper protocols. The situation escalated when the officers allegedly assaulted Fernando and other family members, resulting in a physical altercation.

Over 24 hours after Fernando's death, no official statements have been issued by any authority. The State Attorney General's Office has launched an investigation, but many details surrounding the incident remain unclear.

Fernando's family and the local community are demanding justice and seeking a full account of the events leading to his death. They also hope for the punishment of those responsible. Furthermore, they have expressed their distress over any attempts to tarnish Fernando's reputation, remembering him as an honest, hardworking young man.
