A fatal accident occurred on the Cancún-Puerto Morelos highway on Saturday, June 22. The incident was reported to emergency services at 07:03 am near the Royalton hotel, around kilometer 332. Security personnel swiftly arrived at the scene.
Upon arrival, they found a collision involving two vehicles. The first was a white Toyota Hiace van, operated by the Caribbean Transfer SA de CV company, with license plates 16-RC-3C. The driver of this vehicle was found deceased at the scene.
There were five passengers in the van, all from Florida. Three of them, Kai Won (34), Koi Won (10), and Kalea Won (2), were transported to Quirúrgica del Sur hospital by Life company paramedics.
Two other passengers, Brini Won and Isabel Won (12), were trapped inside the van. Rescue personnel used tools to free them before they were taken to the hospital.
Eyewitnesses report that the van collided with the rear of a white Volkswagen Ayco bus, bearing license plates 90-RC-3X. The bus, operated by the Alipu company, was transporting Hilton hotel staff. The bus driver, a 53-year-old man named Álvaro "N", was unharmed.
Authorities have yet to release specific details about the accident. Further information is expected to be revealed in due course.
