Tragic Crash on Puerto Morelos-Cancún Highway: Man Fatally Impaled by Metal Fence

A horrific accident took place on Wednesday afternoon on the Puerto Morelos-Cancún highway. The driver of a compact car lost control and crashed into a metal fence, which pierced the vehicle from side to side.

At the scene, the body of an unidentified man was discovered, tragically bisected by the metal. The impact caused the metal to penetrate the Nissan March model car, ejecting the driver and his seat from the rear of the vehicle. The man was found writhing in pain on the road, as seen in graphic videos recorded by passing motorists and later uploaded to social media.

Despite being rushed to a Puerto Morelos clinic by private paramedics, the man succumbed to his injuries half an hour after admission. The vehicle, a grey compact car, was found lodged on the safety barrier adjacent to the central median strip of the highway, facing the north-south direction.

The National Guard was tasked with cordoning off the area, leading to a significant traffic build-up as they awaited a crane. It is believed that the driver was traveling from Puerto Morelos to Cancún at the time of the accident.

The accident resulted in slow traffic due to ongoing rescue operations and the removal of the car. Further details about the incident are currently unknown.
