A woman tragically lost her life in a motorcycle accident in Cancún, while a man sustained injuries. Early reports suggest the two were a couple. The accident took place on Bonampak Avenue, near Uxmal.
Local motorists who witnessed the incident immediately dialed 911, calling for emergency assistance for the injured pair. Officers from the Municipal Police of Benito Juarez were first to arrive on the scene. They discovered a motorcycle lying in the middle of the avenue, with the victims situated on the central verge.
Paramedics arrived shortly after to attend to the injured parties. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to save the woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The injured man was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Preliminary investigations into the accident suggest that the motorcycle skidded on the wet pavement, possibly due to excessive speed. However, another theory proposes that another vehicle may have been involved. A black car found at the scene was towed away for further examination.
Forensic experts from the General Prosecutor's Office (FGE) of Quintana Roo were called to the scene. They removed the body of the deceased woman and transported it to the Medical Forensic Service (Semefo) for an autopsy.
This incident adds to the growing number of motorcycle-related accidents in Cancún that have unfortunately resulted in fatalities.
