In Playa del Carmen, Solidaridad, the local government, led by Lili Campos, is making historic strides in improving the urban landscape. Through the Department of Environmental Management and Climate Change, they are renovating a 59-kilometer stretch of the federal highway median strip. This project includes the planting of ornamental plants and regional trees.
The aim of this rehabilitation and restoration project is to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the highway, especially in areas frequented by tourists. This initiative is a collaborative effort between tourist companies, Fonatur, and the Solidaridad city council.
The director of Environmental Management and Climate Change, Lucelly Ramos Montejo, shared that they have already planted 1,761 ornamental plants and 268 trees and palms. The variety of flora includes ciricote, chaca, pink and yellow maculís, ceiba, cedar, ramón, mahogany, jabín, Yaax Nic, Akits, May flower, royal palm, huano, and coconut trees, among others.
