The Operational Commission of the Neighborhood Assembly for the Election of Members of the Puerto Aventuras Mayor's Office has approved the electoral documentation for the upcoming elections. The elections are part of a process to renew the members of the mayoral office in Puerto Aventuras, located south of Playa del Carmen. This area is home to the second largest population within the municipality of Solidaridad.
Polling stations will open at 9 AM and close at 6 PM on Sunday, December 15, at three designated locations. The commission, tasked with overseeing the election, is led by Luis Herrera Quiam, general secretary of the Solidaridad City Council. Alongside three top-level local government officials, Quiam approved the electoral documentation during the Assembly's establishment ceremony.
The documentation includes ballots, scrutiny minutes, incident sheets, accreditations of electoral officials, and representatives of the tally list. The National Electoral Institute (INE), acting solely as a support entity in the election's preparation, supplied booths, indelible ink, markers, and ballot boxes to facilitate citizens' voting rights. This material is now under the municipal authority's custody.
According to the election call, polling stations will be set up in the following schools: Miguel Ortega Navarrete, General Secondary José Antonio Tzuc Esparza, and the Children's Garden Miguel Miramón.
Counting of votes will begin immediately after the polling stations close at 6 PM on Sunday. Once the count is concluded, a winner will be declared from the three candidates. However, if there are any disputes, the majority certificate will not be delivered to the winner until December 18.
