The Department of Economics in Tulum, led by Bady Gómez Soberano, recently held an informational session in Hondzonot for the agro-food sector. The session was presented by representatives of the Trusts Established in Connection with Agriculture (FIRA).
The aim of this session was to guide local farmers, beekeepers, ranchers and artisans from the Mayan area and transition zone. The goal is to help them access funding and support that can enable them to expand their activities and diversify their economy.
Bady Gómez Soberano, the director of economics, noted that one of the key goals of Mayor Diego Castañón is to provide growth opportunities for Tulum's producers. This includes increasing the value added of their activities and providing potential financing coverage for rural markets engaged in legitimate economic activities and productive microcredits.
Soberano said, "Today we have artisans and producers who work tirelessly in the Mayan area. Today, we're presenting the facilities and tools that FIRA, a finance institution, offers. This is one of the commitments of the current administration, to always promote our hard-working people." He also expressed gratitude to the FIRA staff.
Soberano mentioned that FIRA will also seek to support other sectors that could increase their supply to the tourism sector and local market.
The session was attended by 43 participants, including 18 women and 25 men, who are producers, artisans, ranchers and beekeepers. This high turnout indicates the Tulum community's keen interest in achieving exponential growth in partnership with the municipal government.
