This past Saturday marked a significant milestone for Tulum, as the first ever non-stop flight from Canada touched down at the "Felipe Carrillo Puerto" International Airport. The service, provided by Air Canada, operates from Toronto and Montreal. This new route is expected to boost tourism and business ties between the southern region of Quintana Roo in Mexico and Canada.

Governor Mara Lezama led the inaugural flight ceremony, announcing that Air Canada will operate two flights per week. This direct service is a significant step forward in enhancing the state's international connectivity, and it underscores Quintana Roo's commitment to global tourism.

Governor Lezama stated, "This direct link will enable visitors to explore our rural communities, and experience our rich cultural, historical, gastronomic, and artisanal heritage. It presents a fresh way to experience the new era of the Mexican Caribbean."

The governor emphasized that this new route is a result of a collaborative effort between the government, Air Canada, and local communities, all working together to make Quintana Roo an increasingly accessible and appealing global destination. She expressed gratitude to Air Canada, represented by Luis Noriega, its General Manager for Latin America, and Gunther Leudesdorf, General Manager for Mexico, for their investment in this new service.

"We invite all travelers from Canada to discover Tulum and the myriad treasures our state has to offer," the governor concluded.

Air Canada has increased its capacity in the Mexican Caribbean by 40% and will operate the service using Airbus 320 aircraft, which can accommodate 168 passengers across two classes. This inaugural flight marks the start of regular operations that are expected to further strengthen ties between Mexico and Canada, facilitating not just tourism, but also new business and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
