Shocking Violence: 5 Killed in Puerto Morelos and Cancún in 24 Hours

Thursday was a day of violence in Puerto Morelos and Benito Juárez, with five people killed in separate incidents. The first occurred in Cancún's region 99, where a man was fatally shot outside a military garrison in the early morning.

In the afternoon, a man was shot on Cocodrilo Avenue in the Villas la Playa subdivision of Puerto Morelos. The victim, who was riding a motorcycle, was attacked by individuals who then fled the scene. He was found outside a convenience store, and local police and forensic experts arrived to collect the body and transport it to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo).

Later, authorities were alerted to a shooting in the Valle Verde neighbourhood. Paramedics arrived to find a woman had been shot and was already deceased.

Another report came from the Avante neighbourhood of Cancún, where a man had been shot. Emergency services, including the Rescue and Medical Urgency Squad (Erum), arrived on the scene to confirm the man had succumbed to his injuries.

In the evening, another shooting was reported in the Leona Vicario area of Puerto Morelos. A man was shot multiple times while eating at a snack bar and died from his injuries.

In a separate incident in the Valle Verde neighbourhood of Cancún, another man is in critical condition after being shot multiple times.
