Four beach destinations in Quintana Roo have recently been ranked higher than Cancun as the best and most appealing in Mexico. Tulum, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, and Holbox have been praised for their stunning beauty, lively atmosphere, and diverse attractions.

The ranking was created by USNews, using a combination of traveler votes and expert opinions. Surprisingly, Zihuatanejo in Guerrero topped the list, but four Quintana Roo destinations also outperformed Cancun as top beach locations.

Tulum is a popular holiday spot for luxury travelers, but it also offers affordable options. Its white sandy beaches and turquoise waters draw in hundreds of tourists. The nightlife is vibrant with opportunities for cocktails and dancing. During the day, the city is equally vibrant, boasting Mayan archaeological sites and natural wonders like cenotes and bioreserves.

Cozumel's beaches are a major draw, similar to the other highlighted destinations. The island is known for its bustling tourism, with crowded shopping centers and restaurants along the coast. However, the real charm lies away from the city center. Visitors can rent a fishing or diving boat to explore the shallow reefs along the coast or find a secluded beach for relaxation.

Isla Mujeres is a great choice for a short, one-day visit. Located off the coast of Cancun, it offers beautiful beaches for relaxation and coral reefs for exploration. It's also one of the best places for snorkeling. For sunbathing, Playa Norte is the most popular beach.

Isla Holbox is known for its tranquil beaches, laid-back atmosphere, and crystal-clear waters. It's perfect for travelers seeking a quiet retreat. This car-free island, located off the northern coast of the Yucatan peninsula, is just 42 kilometers long. It features boutique hotels, stretches of white sandy beaches, opportunities for snorkeling and sailing, and is home to over 100 species of birds.
