As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río Union has extended an invitation to the public to participate in the Fourth Pink Run. This event is aimed at promoting awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer and offering support to those affected by it.
In a recent press conference, Karla Sugey Manzo, the president of the Union's Voluntary team, announced that the race is scheduled for October 13 at 7:00 a.m. at the Maya Portal. Registration is open from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Riviera Maya Educational Consortium. A portion of the race's proceeds will be donated to the "Un grano de arena por mujer" ("A grain of sand for women") Association, which provides support to women battling breast cancer.
This year, the race has expanded its categories to include:
- Mixed youth (13 to 17 years) – 3k
- Free women and men (18 to 55 years) – 5k
- Women's and men's master (56 years and above) – 2k
Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category. Participants are also welcome to register with their pets.
Manzo stressed the importance of the event, saying, "We want this race to symbolize unity and support for those fighting this difficult battle and to serve as a reminder of the importance of health care." The Fourth Pink Run is one of the Union's initiatives aimed at reinforcing its social commitment and promoting health and well-being in the community.
