Gasoline Prices Soar to 29 Pesos, Fueling Financial Worries

The PetroIntelligence platform's latest data reveals that the national price of Premium gasoline has hit a high of 29.09 pesos, while diesel has reached 29.89 pesos. This surge in fuel prices is causing concern among Mexicans and intensifying the financial strain typically experienced in January. The recent price increases are on track to surpass the record levels reported in January 2024. The escalating fuel costs are directly affecting transporters and the general public, adding to the costs of transporting goods and passengers during this financially challenging period.

Regulatory authorities are taking action against service stations that exceed the price limit. A recent example of this was in Monterrey, Nuevo León, where a station operating under the Pemex brand was marked for exceeding the limit.

In response to these rising prices, a meeting has been scheduled for this week with gasoline sellers. The aim of this meeting is to address the issue of high fuel prices, as there appears to be no justification for the inflated costs.

The highest prices are found in states such as Baja California Sur, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Quintana Roo, and the State of Mexico. This suggests that the elevated price level is a nationwide issue, not confined to any specific region.
