“Las Licenciadas Clinch Victory at Sea Fishing Tournament 2024!”

The Cancun-based team "Las Licenciadas" emerged victorious in the "Goddess of the Sea" International Fishing Tournament 2024. Aboard their boat, the Happy Man, they managed to catch the heaviest Guaju, weighing in at 51 pounds. This impressive catch earned them a whopping 2,550 points, putting them in first place against 23 other competing teams.

The team described the day as a bustling one out on the open sea. This was their inaugural participation in the Puerto Morelos tournament, and they were quick to praise the collective effort of their team. The capture of the winning fish was a particularly strenuous task, taking them around an hour to reel in.

In addition to the prestige of winning, the team also walked away with a cash prize of 100,000 pesos. They were also awarded a double pass to a future tournament in Panama.

The second-place prize was clinched by the Pelaná team, hailing from Puerto Morelos. Their contribution to a conservation project saw them mark eight Dorado fish.

The tournament allowed for the catch and release of several fish species, including marlins, sailfish, blue marlin, and white marlin. Other species that were eligible for weighing included barracuda, guaju, dorado, tuna, bonito, and sawfish.
