The federal government has decided to acquire 24 hectares of land in the Boca del Río ejido in Veracruz and 37 hectares in Campeche and Chiapas. This decision was made for public utility purposes and was announced through three decrees published in the Official Gazette of the Federation.

The National Institute of Sustainable Land will oversee the first expropriation, while the other two will be managed by the Maya Train project. The 24 hectares in Veracruz will be used for regularization and legal titling of the lots. The plan includes selling the land to current occupants, selling vacant lots to interested third parties, and donating necessary areas for infrastructure and urban and municipal services in the area.

The National Institute of Sustainable Land is tasked with paying compensation for the expropriated area, which amounts to three million 554 thousand pesos, as stated in the appraisal issued by the Institute of Administration and Appraisals of National Assets.

The lands allocated to the Maya Train project will be used for railway infrastructure works and the operation of the Maya Train Project. Specifically, 30 hectares will be used by the Becal ejido in the municipality of Calkiní, Campeche, and another seven hectares will be located in the municipality of Palenque, Chiapas.

The government will pay 15 million 101 thousand 308 pesos for the land in Campeche, and one million 714 thousand 133 pesos for the land in Palenque, as per the appraisals issued by the Institute of Administration and Appraisals of National Assets.

Once the payment or deposit of the compensation is confirmed by FONATUR Maya Train, S.A. de C.V., the Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development will proceed with the execution of the project.
