Cozumel, Quintana Roo — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, alongside Verónica Lezama Espinosa, honorary president of DIF Quintana Roo, and municipal president José Luis Chacón, marked Children’s Day with a vibrant celebration at the Moby Dick Entertainment Center. The event drew approximately 3,000 attendees, offering families an afternoon of entertainment, surprises, and gifts.

A Day of Joy and Inclusion

Children and their families enjoyed a lively program featuring costumed characters, music, raffles, and toys, ensuring a memorable experience for all. Each child in attendance received a toy as part of the festivities.

Governor Lezama actively engaged with the children, sharing snacks such as marquesitas (a local crispy crepe) and participating in games on inflatable structures. She joined them onstage for dances, encouraged sing-alongs, and led interactive activities that extended to the audience below.

In her address, Governor Lezama urged children to openly express their emotions, experiences, and concerns, emphasizing their right to happiness and a dignified life. She also called for vigilance against addiction, promoting healthy lifestyles.

“The State Government is committed to the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo, ensuring a better quality of life and the protection of rights for our children and adolescents,” she stated.

Emphasis on Family and Community Values

Verónica Lezama Espinosa highlighted the event’s role in fostering unity, love, friendship, generosity, and wholesome recreation.

“I sincerely wish you a Happy Children’s Day, because your smiles are and will always be our greatest joy. This is a day to celebrate and dream big, as Quintana Roo’s most precious treasure is its children,” she said.

Municipal President José Luis Chacón encouraged attendees to cherish the day’s activities and strengthen bonds with parents, siblings, and grandparents.

“Every activity was designed with love and care, recognizing the importance of play in growth, learning, and community building,” he remarked.

The celebration underscored the government’s dedication to children’s welfare, blending entertainment with messages of well-being and family unity.
