Chetumal, Quintana Roo — Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama led a ceremony marking the delivery of 20 fully equipped ambulances to the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) and the allocation of 112 million pesos for hospital infrastructure improvements in Chetumal and Benito Juárez. The event, held at the IMSS General Hospital in Chetumal, underscored the state government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services for residents.

Ambulances to Enhance Emergency Response

The 20 new ambulances, equipped with advanced medical technology, will be distributed across IMSS facilities in Quintana Roo. Governor Lezama emphasized that these vehicles will significantly improve emergency medical response times, particularly in remote and underserved areas.

"Today, we take another step forward in guaranteeing the right to health for all Quintana Roo residents," Lezama stated during the ceremony. "These ambulances represent more than just vehicles—they are lifelines that will save lives and ensure timely care for those in need."

112 Million Pesos for Hospital Upgrades

In addition to the ambulances, the governor announced a 112-million-peso investment to modernize hospital infrastructure in Chetumal and Benito Juárez. The funds will be directed toward expanding capacity, upgrading medical equipment, and improving patient care facilities at IMSS hospitals in both municipalities.

Zoé Robledo, Director General of IMSS, attended the event and praised the collaboration between federal and state authorities. "This joint effort reflects our shared commitment to providing quality healthcare services. With these resources, we are not only improving infrastructure but also ensuring that medical personnel have the tools they need to serve the community effectively," Robledo said.

Strengthening Healthcare in Quintana Roo

The initiatives are part of a broader strategy to address healthcare gaps in Quintana Roo, a state that has experienced rapid population growth in recent years. Governor Lezama highlighted ongoing efforts to expand medical services, including the construction of new clinics and the recruitment of additional healthcare professionals.

"Healthcare is a priority for our administration," Lezama affirmed. "We will continue working tirelessly to ensure that every family in Quintana Roo has access to dignified and efficient medical care."

The event concluded with a symbolic handover of the ambulances’ keys to IMSS representatives, marking the official start of their deployment across the state.
