Ramón Trejo Campusano, the head of the Anti-Femicide Unit in northern Quintana Roo, tragically lost his life in a car accident early Friday morning. The incident took place on the Ramal Norte highway, close to the 'military city'. Preliminary police reports indicate that Trejo was en route to visit his children at his ex-partner's home when he lost control of his vehicle, a Jetta, and flipped over on July 19th.

The accident occurred in the continental zone, meaning the local traffic authorities of Isla Mujeres were responsible for responding to the incident. To facilitate the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) in conducting necessary procedures, local authorities closed both lanes of the Ramal Norte highway.

During the vehicle inspection, Trejo's service weapon and several documents were discovered and secured by the Prosecutor's office. An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the accident. Initial theories suggest that Trejo may have lost control of his vehicle due to road conditions.
