The Governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama, has announced that the Secretary of National Defense (SEDENA) is undertaking repaving efforts on various sections of Highway 307. These areas have sustained damage due to the heavy traffic of cargo trucks involved in the construction of the Maya Train. The federal government has been requested to enhance the quality of the road's surface, as the asphalt layer has been significantly impacted.

In collaboration with the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transport (SICT), plans are in motion to initiate a substantial project in the sinkhole area of the Cancun to Playa del Carmen highway.

In related news, the Bachetón 2024 program, facilitated by the federal government through SICT, has commenced work at seven locations on the toll-free highway network in Quintana Roo. This initiative will continue until February 28, 2025, focusing on three strategic zones in Quintana Roo:

  • Zone 1 covers 199.88 km, including Highway 184 between Merida and Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Highway 186 from Escárcega to Chetumal, and Route 295 of the Valladolid-Felipe Carrillo highway.
  • Zone 2 spans 204.90 km, focusing on Highway 307.
  • Zone 3 includes works on Highway 180 from Merida to Puerto Juárez and another section on Highway 307 from the Reforma Agraria-Puerto Juárez section.

These efforts are separate from the ongoing works by SEDENA on Highway 307, which have been necessitated by the construction of the Maya Train.
