Property-Damaging Collision on Tulum-Playa del Carmen Highway

A two-vehicle collision on the Tulum-Playa del Carmen stretch of Federal Highway 307 resulted in significant property damage and one individual requiring medical assessment. The accident occurred at approximately 11:30 am on November 12 at kilometer 255, near the turnoff for the Akumal community. The incident was reported via a 911 emergency call, which prompted immediate response from authorities.

National Roads Guard personnel were first on the scene, confirming the details of the accident. Initial reports suggest that the collision occurred when the driver of a white Nissan Sentra made a left turn, obstructing the path of an oncoming gray Nissan X-Trail, bearing license plates UP-932-J.

Although the collision resulted in substantial damage to both vehicles, there were no fatalities or serious injuries reported. One individual was assessed by paramedics from Tulum hospital at the scene but did not require hospital transfer.

The responding officers noted that the primary impact of the accident was material, with both vehicles sustaining considerable damage. Following an on-site appraisal, National Guard agents began an investigation to determine responsibility for the accident. This appraisal will also inform any potential sanctions against the involved parties.

After the initial response and investigation, both vehicles were removed from the scene by a tow truck and transported to a local impound lot. This action was taken to clear the roadway and restore normal traffic flow in the area.
