A homeless man was discovered deceased in a dwelling in the Luis Donaldo Colosio neighborhood of Playa del Carmen. The discovery was made when local residents reported a lifeless body on 44th street, between 10th and 15th avenues. This prompted a police response, and the area was cordoned off to preserve any potential evidence until the State Attorney's Office staff arrived.
The man, known to locals as José Guadalupe, or "La Remolacha," had been a fixture in the neighborhood for many years. Guadalupe was known to struggle with alcoholism and had recently been taken in by family members who attempted to help him improve his circumstances. Unfortunately, he returned to living on the streets shortly thereafter.
Forensic Services staff were dispatched to conduct necessary procedures at the scene before removing the body for transport to the morgue, where an autopsy will be performed. This tragic incident highlights the ongoing issue of homelessness and the challenges associated with providing timely assistance to this vulnerable population.
