In Cancún, two burglars were taken aback when the homeowner they were attempting to rob confronted them with a machete. The owner did not hesitate to use the weapon, injuring one of the intruders. The other burglar managed to escape, making off with cash and a few personal items.
The incident took place in a residence located in Villas Otoch Paraíso. Initial reports suggest that the thieves broke into the home with the intent to steal. The homeowner, however, caught them in the act and retaliated with a machete. One of the burglars sustained an injury to his left arm, while his accomplice fled the scene with a tablet, 10 thousand pesos, and other miscellaneous items.
The injured burglar reportedly sought help at a pharmacy situated on Miguel Hidalgo Avenue (Route 5) and Lak'In in Cancún. It is believed, however, that he did not receive any medical attention. After his condition was assessed, he was handed over to the Public Ministry to determine his legal fate for the attempted burglary in Cancún.
