Fatal Shooting Rocks Playa del Carmen Subdivision

A yellow caution tape with the word "PRECAUCIÓN" spans across the foreground of a street scene with parked cars, buildings, and trees under a clear sky.

A man was shot and killed by armed assailants in a van this morning in the Villamar I subdivision of Playa del Carmen. The incident reportedly occurred on Playa Ángel street, where the man's body was found on the sidewalk.

Witnesses promptly alerted authorities via 911, leading to the arrival of Municipal Police and National Guard agents. The area was quickly cordoned off and the State Attorney General's Office was informed of the incident.

Private paramedics arrived on the scene and confirmed the man's death. He had sustained at least three gunshot wounds, one of which was apparently to the head.

Eyewitnesses reported that three individuals, dressed in military-style attire, emerged from a white car and ambushed the man with gunfire. Forensic Services personnel arrived shortly thereafter to gather evidence and transport the body to Forensic Medical Services.

As of now, there have been no reported arrests in connection with the incident.
