Beekeepers in José María Morelos are currently facing challenges due to a decrease in honey production. This decline is attributed to the cold temperatures that have been impacting the region.

Mario Rodolfo Can Chan, a representative from the Pedro Moreno community, reported in a recent interview that the cold weather has resulted in poor flower bloom and the death of numerous bees. He explained that beekeepers started to harvest and store honey since November, but they have not been able to gather enough to sell in large quantities for the December holidays.

Can Chan also shared that he recently harvested a mere 90 kilos from his hives, a figure significantly lower than his usual yield, which is typically double that amount.

In conclusion, Can Chan highlighted that over 20 beekeepers in the area are grappling with this reduced production, a direct result of the cold fronts that have been affecting the region.
