Legal Crackdown on Derimaya Associates for Fraudulent Activities

Additional arrest warrants and bank account freezes have been issued in connection to individuals associated with Riviera Maya Developer (Derimaya). The company is under investigation for fraudulent activities related to land transactions in the Colosio neighborhood of Playa del Carmen. Protective measures were denied for two individuals linked to Rebeca N., who was previously arrested by the State Attorney General's Office.

One of these individuals, Camila N., has had her bank accounts frozen as per the Seventh District Court of Cancun's file 183/2024, at the request of the Financial Intelligence Unit. Another notable case is Joaquín José N., who filed file 389/2024 with the Fourth District Court against an arrest warrant. He is believed to be Rebeca N.'s husband.

On Wednesday, December 8th, Rebeca N. and Celia María N., daughters of Ofelia González Whitt, the main partner of Derimaya, were implicated in the investigation and arrested for fraudulent administration. This came to light after their failed attempt to cross into the United States. A control judge has ordered their detainment for the duration of the investigation.

During a meeting on November 24, 2021, several administrative fiscal irregularities were identified among the parties. Despite multiple requests from the Department of Sustainable Urban Territorial Development, these issues were not resolved. Consequently, a complaint was filed against Derimaya.
