Juan Novelo Zapata, a council member and head of the Indigenous and Afro-Mexican Affairs Commission of the Solidaridad City Council, recently highlighted the progress made in managing resources and programs to enhance the living conditions of indigenous and Afro-Mexican communities in the municipality.
The council's main goal is to reduce inequality and support the most vulnerable sectors. To this end, 10% of the Social Infrastructure Contributions Fund, amounting to an investment of 10 million pesos, has been allocated for the refurbishment of rural roads, enhancement of community spaces, and the implementation of safety and welfare measures.
Efforts are also being made to incorporate these communities into the local economy, particularly the tourism sector, in order to bolster their economic activities. Zapata remains committed to collaborating with various levels of government and civil society to attain genuine social justice for these communities.
