Officials have asserted that the proposed Infonavit Law reform, put forward by Claudia Sheinbaum's Government and Morena, does not pose a risk to workers' savings. Infonavit's general director, Octavio Romero, stressed that the workers' housing fund is solely for home purchases. If an employee doesn't require the money for this purpose, it will be allocated to their pension upon retirement.
The reform aims to rectify issues that have impacted thousands of beneficiaries. These individuals have struggled with expired loans and fraudulent lawsuits, leading to the loss of their properties. Romero emphasized that the reform does not intend to confiscate workers' savings, contrary to what opposition parties have suggested.
