International Congress in Cancún Puts Sustainability at Center

The LIX International Congress of Appraisers, which began this Thursday in Cancún, is placing a strong emphasis on sustainability and city growth. Bertha Lorena Mercado, president of the Federation of Appraisers in Mexico, was among the attendees. The event, titled "International Valuation Congress Cancún 2024", has adopted "The Future of Sustainable Valuation" as its slogan.

Carlos Fierros Pacheco, president of the Mexican Federation of Civil Engineers Colleges, highlighted the importance of sustainability during the congress's opening. He pointed out that it's a topic that civil engineers frequently discuss in their meetings and events due to its significant impact on environmental cycles. These cycles, he noted, can sometimes result in disasters or benefits due to human intervention.

Pacheco also mentioned the current issues related to water, which are being resolved in various parts of the country due to weather conditions. However, he also noted that the same weather has led to disasters in places like Guerrero.

In light of these issues, Pacheco underscored the importance of valuation, particularly for those who contribute to society's development. He emphasized that appraisers have a significant role in determining the usability of a property, which carries a great responsibility.
