Saga’s Spirit of Discovery Arrives in Yucatan, Mexico: A 50-Day Journey Unveiled

A large cruise ship docked at a port in Yucatán with a colorful 'YUCATAN' sign in the foreground welcoming visitors.

In Yucatan, Mexico, the State Government has confirmed that the cruise ship, Spirit of Discovery, has made its first visit to the port of Progreso. The ship, owned by Saga, embarked from England with a total of 1,396 passengers for a 50-day journey across America. Yucatan is the only Mexican destination included in the cruise's itinerary.

The Secretary of Tourism Promotion (SEFOTUR), Darío Flota Ocampo, represented Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena at the plaque exchange ceremony with the ship's Captain, Franko Papic. The event was attended by local and federal authorities from Progreso.

Ocampo emphasized Saga's decision to include Yucatan in its 50-day tour of American ports. This decision allows European tourists on board the Spirit of Discovery to immerse themselves in the rich Mayan culture.
