As part of the Isla Mujeres Foundation Festivities 2024, exceptional locals will be honored for their contributions to various societal sectors.

On August 17, Isla Mujeres will commemorate its 174th foundation anniversary. During the celebration, the "Lic. José de Jesús Lima Gutiérrez" Tourism Merit Medals, the "Don Alfonso Ríos Azueta" Citizen Merit Medals, and the most prestigious "Diosa Ixchel" decoration will be bestowed.

In light of this, the public, civil associations, and other institutions are invited to submit their nominations for these medals to the General Secretariat of the Municipality.

The Isla Mujeres Municipal Government, under the leadership of Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde, expressed that these awards serve to inspire locals to strive for excellence, warmly welcome tourists, show kindness, and initiate new projects that benefit the municipality.

Nominations will be accepted until August 2nd. Submissions must be in writing and include the nominator's general information.

The submission should also contain the nominee's name or names, address, and a statement of reasons explaining why they are deserving of the award. A Curriculum Vitae with supporting documents and any additional information relevant to the nominee's field of expertise should also be included.

The winners will be announced at the XV Public and Solemn Session of the Honorable Municipality of Isla Mujeres, scheduled for August 17 at the Municipal Esplanade.
