Isla Mujeres, Holbox, and Cozumel have been ranked among the top islands in North America, with scores of 91.21, 88.3, and 86.4 respectively. This information comes from the recent Readers' Choice Awards Top Islands survey. The State Government has confirmed these findings, highlighting the quality of service and excellence of these destinations and solidifying the Mexican Caribbean's status as a premier tourism location. Each year, the survey identifies the best places to visit, with Mexico consistently receiving numerous awards. This year, the focus was on the three main islands of the Mexican Caribbean, with three of Quintana Roo's islands making the top five in North America. Holbox took the top spot, emphasizing its unique appeal as a destination.

Holbox

Holbox Island is a hidden gem nestled within the Yum Balam nature reserve. It stands as an ecological sanctuary between the Yalahau lagoon – home to flamingos and pelicans – and the crystal clear waters where the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico meet. The island's white sandy streets and lack of cars give it an isolated feel. Each corner of Holbox tells a story, and every wave whispers the secrets of this unparalleled destination.

Isla Mujeres

Just 15 kilometers off the coast of Cancun lies Isla Mujeres, a former fishing island. Recognized as a "Magical Town", Isla Mujeres is known for its relaxed atmosphere and Caribbean charm. The island's small size – only 7 kilometers long and 500 meters wide – means that golf carts are the primary mode of transportation. Visitors can easily explore the island's beaches, nature parks, and the shrine dedicated to the goddess Ixchel (the Mayan goddess of love, fertility, and the moon) at Punta Sur.

Cozumel

Cozumel, the largest island in the Mexican Caribbean and the third largest in Mexico, is rich in history, Mayan ruins, and natural wonders. Its white beaches, stunning sunsets, and world-renowned coral reefs make it a true paradise. Cozumel is a destination for both adventure and relaxation, offering a range of activities in spectacular natural settings.
