Isla Mujeres Mayor, Atenea Gómez Ricalde, recently led the traditional Civic-Sports Parade celebrating the 114th Anniversary of the Mexican Revolution. The parade took place along the iconic Avenida Rueda Medina and included over 1,574 participants.
Mayor Ricalde celebrated the civic holiday alongside local families, students, athletes, educational institutions, and members of the armed forces. The parade showcased a variety of groups from different educational and sports institutions, ranging from elementary to higher education.
Notable participants included the cachibol team from the Coordination of the Older Adult of the System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF) Isla Mujeres. Several primary schools also took part, including “Andrés Quintana Roo”, “César Mendoza Santana” and “Julio Sauri Espinoza”, as well as the technical secondary school “Benito Juárez” and the College of Bachelors.
Athletes from various sports disciplines, such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, and baseball, also participated, demonstrating their skills. Members of the Armed Forces, Citizen Security, the Fire Department, and the Red Cross were also present.
The annual parade is a testament to the Municipal Government's commitment to preserving civic and cultural traditions. It serves as a way to strengthen community bonds and promote peace within the community.
