The local government of Isla Mujeres is inviting residents and tourists to a grand celebration of the Cry of Independence, headlined by star performer Chico Che Chico. The event, organized by the Culture Directorate, is set to take place on September 15.
Attendees can look forward to an evening filled with a variety of artistic and cultural performances. "We have a fantastic night planned, complete with Mariachi music, Folkloric Ballet, and the Coronation of the Ambassadors of the Patriotic Festivities," said Culture Directorate head, Maricarmen Martínez Vera.
Municipal president Atenea Gómez Ricalde took to social media to encourage locals to partake in the patriotic celebrations marking the 214th anniversary of the start of Mexico's War of Independence. The festivities will culminate in a massive concert by Chico Che Chico at the Municipal Explanade.
Following Chico Che Chico's performance, which will include hits such as "Macorina", "Uy qué miedo" and "Quién pompo", salsa singer Jemanuel will take to the stage. Chico Che Chico, the son of tropical music star Francisco José Hernández Mandujano, also known as Chico Che, is returning to Isla Mujeres after previous successful performances in the Continental Zone and on the Island.
The Tabasco-born artist has previously collaborated with notable artists such as Karoll Márquez, Aaron and his Group Ilusión, Elefante, Puro Reyes, Los Socios del Ritmo, Griss Romero, Los Yonic’s and Juan Solo, among others.
The Municipal President has extended an invitation to locals and visitors alike to attend this grand event, which will be free of charge. "Let's celebrate the pride of being Mexican in a big way," she said.
